Overview

Overview

Our Georges de Latour Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon has been widely recognized as the benchmark Cabernet Sauvignon from Rutherford since its inaugural vintage in 1936. Our understanding of terroir comes from more than 100 years of creating rich, classic Napa Valley wines. Our legacy honors the marriage between state-of-the-art technology and gentle, traditional wine making methods, a combination that enhances the expression of our remarkable vineyards.

The superb 2015 vintage gave the 2015 Georges de Latour Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon its unctuous fruit character and dense structure. Hugely complex, the wine reveals a broad spectrum of briary blackberry, black cherry and currant notes, with nuances of violet and bittersweet chocolate. Muscular tannins support the plush, expansive palate, while impeccably balanced acidity adds vibrancy.

James Suckling

“A complex red with blackcurrants, forest floor and mint. Eucalyptus, too. Love the aromas. Full body with ripe tannins that roll on the palate. Very harmonious and precise. Needs four to five years to come together, but already a joy to taste.”

Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Wine Advocate

“Blended of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Merlot, 3% Petit Verdot and 3% Malbec aged 22 months in 100% new French oak, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Private Reserve Georges de Latour is very deep purple-black in color and reveals bags of crushed blackberries, black cherries and warm cassis notes with mocha, Sichuan pepper and hoisin plus unsmoked cigars and cedar chest hints. Full-bodied and absolutely laden with layers of black fruits and spices, it has a firm, grainy frame and seamless freshness, finishing very long.”

Taste Description

Taste Description

Nose

The 2015 vintage influenced our signature Georges de Latour Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon by crafting a wine small in yield, but mighty in concentration, depth and elegance. The bouquet shows beautiful freshness with a cascade of red and dark berry fruit notes followed by hints of rose petal and violet. Well integrated notes of vanilla and toasted oak spices - from aging in new French oak barrels - heighten the aromas and linger on the finish.

Flavours and Palate

Rich, with a full-bodied structure on the palate, the wine is complex and expressive, revealing layers of blackcurrant, bright raspberry, dark cherry and cassis, followed by hints of cedar, cinnamon, clove and mocha. Plush tannins support the expansive palate, while impeccably balanced acidity adds vibrancy and freshness.

California, USA

The USA’s most famous and productive wine region - and also one of its most popular tourist destinations. With its stunning scenery (undulating hills crisscrossed by vines, and awash with wildflowers) and vibrant, decadent food culture, it’s not surprising Napa Valley was named ‘World's Best Wine and Food Destination’ in the 2010 Travelers' Choice Awards.

A mild winter across California lead to early bud break in 2015 but limited rain and moderate temperatures throughout the growing season caused the overall length of the season to be consistent with years past. The yields in 2015 were slightly lower than the previous year, which lead to exceptional quality, resulting in a Cabernet with tremendous concentration of flavors, highly saturated color, and layers of complexity.
