THE BERINGER COLLECTION

There was no manuscript to follow. No manual to start a winery; at least not in 1850’s America. The only thing Jacob and Frederick Beringer had, besides one another, was the capacity to see possibilities where others could not. Their arrival in Napa cued their memory of the wine regions of their native Germany and with this instinct, fueled by the vitality of American entrepreneurialism, they launched their winery.​

As others raced to California, the Beringer Brothers caught a glimpse of something more fruitful. Laying down the roots and putting in the time and hard work, the Beringer Brothers turned their dream into something more worthwhile and purposeful. Taking what they knew from the old country, they sought to make a life amongst the new opportunities. The Beringer Brothers embodied the spirit of America’s past, the idea that anything is possible. This is what defined America as the land of opportunity.​

Meet the Maker

Mark Beringer, great-great-grandson of Beringer Vineyards' founding brother Jacob Beringer, was immersed in wine from the moment he was born in the heart of the Napa Valley.

Mark graduated from California State University in Fresno with an Enology degree in 1990.


In 2015, Mark Beringer came 'home' to Beringer Vineyards, joining as Chief Winemaker following in the footsteps of acclaimed Winemaker Emeritus Laurie Hook.
