Born into a family of generations of French winemakers and grape growers Sebastien always had an inherent passion for wine. Growing up amongst the vines in Southern Rhône Valley and helping establish the family winery with his uncle, he developed a desire to understand all aspects of the wine world. He started with an apprenticeship in winemaking and wine sales leading him to study winemaking and vineyard management in Burgundy.
Recognized for his wine knowledge, Sebastien won first prize in the ‘Young Wine Tasters’ blind competition at the 2004 Salon International de l'Agriculture in Paris. Over the years, he has enjoyed working in winemaking not only in his home country, but also in California and Australia for over a decade. His time spent abroad has provided a great understanding and affinity with winemaking in the ‘New World’. As the Maison de Grand Esprit Senior Winemaker, Sebastien is tasked with combining his experience of classic ‘Old World’ techniques with ‘New World’ mentality and style.
